Emotional "I'll remember that play call for life," says Drew Lock.

On Monday night, 2023 was the year of the NFL backup quarterback. Seattle Seahawks Drew Lock joined the list and may have risen to the top.

Seattle's 7-6 season was at stake against the 10-3 Philadelphia Eagles, and with starting quarterback Geno Smith's groin injury, they didn't know who would start until the game.

After warming up, Smith was unable to play, thus Lock was chosen. Lock and his offense scored three scores in the first 30 minutes and completed 10 of 14 throws for 60 yards

The defending NFC champion Eagles continued their troubles on both sides of the ball, and with 1:52 left in the game, down 17-13, Lock had a shot, but he had to travel 92 yards in a limited period to make it.

Matt Patricia took over defensive play-calling from Seen Desai this week, and the Eagles were unprepared for the touchdown.

Lock, the 2019 second-round choice of the Denver Broncos from Missouri, has never been an NFL starter, which led to worries. Now he knew what to do and went out and did it.
