The LSU Tigers gymnastics team made history on Saturday with a record-setting performance against Arkansas, clinching a 198.475-196.200 victory.
Olivia Dunne returned to the competition for the first time since the Sprouts Collegiate Quad on Jan. 13, showcasing her talent in the floor routine.
With scores of 9.90 and 9.85 in her two rotations, Dunne averaged an impressive 9.875, matching her season high set against Ohio State.
“Record setting dub,” Dunne captioned a TikTok video alongside teammate Annie Beard, capturing the excitement of the moment.
Teammate Haleigh Bryant shone brightly with a perfect score, further cementing her legacy as the holder of the most perfect 10s in program history, totaling an impressive 12.
The Tigers dominated across all events, particularly excelling on the floor with a score of 49.775. Strong performances on the bars (49.550) and beam (49.625) further contributed to their commanding victory.
Reflecting on the team’s achievement, Tigers coach Jay Clark emphasized the importance of improvement and focus on performance rather than scores. “Well, we got better.
That’s what this week was about,” Clark stated. “The focus and the main goal was to get a good performance, a complete performance.”
With the win, Clark also celebrated his 100th career victory, marking a significant milestone in his coaching journey.
Currently boasting a 5-2 record for the year and a commendable 2-1 standing against SEC opponents, LSU looks ahead to their next challenge as they prepare to hit the road and face off against Georgia in their upcoming meet.
